Irvine Welsh on how our relationship with ageing is changing…

Scottish literary icon and author of the 90s cult classic Trainspotting, Irvine Welsh joined me on Changes this week.

I have always loved Irvine’s books, and loved getting to chat with him for this episode. We covered his early experiences growing up in the schemes in Edinburgh, arrested at aged 8! losing friends at 16, discovering heroin after the death of his Father… the best way to tackle hype post Trainspotting, his perceptions of masculinity and how it has changed, and here, how our relationship with ageing is changing, as well as the softening that comes with ageing, especially when it comes to his male friends and affection.

Irivine’s latest book Resolution came out in July this year, and is the final instalment in his CRIME trilogy which has now been adapted into a hit ITV series.

Come and have a listen and let us know how you go as always…
