Why Bella Mackie discusses mental illness publicly and how it has come to define her.
Changes is back with a new series and our first guest is the phenomenally popular author Bella Mackie.
Bella’s debut novel ‘How To Kill Your Family’ was a #1 Sunday Times Bestseller and sat in the top 10 book charts for a staggering 47 weeks. It is now set for a Netflix adaptation starring Anya Taylor Joy as the murderous anti-hero Grace Bernard.
Bella’s new novel ‘What a Way To Go’ comes out on 12th September so it felt timely to sit down and talk through her big changes.
Bella was really honest and generous in this conversation. As well as talking about the new book, she talked about her life living with anxiety disorder and OCD, how her privilege is woven through every part of her success, her short-lived first marriage, her relationship with Greg James (Radio 1’s Breakfast host), not having children and her passionate hatred for the wellness industry.
